The vise head has a square shank to fit into the cross slide slot and is secured by a knurled knob. This vise easily locks onto the work piece with a powerful clamping mechanism.

The vise has adjustable jaws for accommodating a wide range of work pieces, including round stock sizes from 2 to 4". This model replaces the old 589944 without changing the design except for a change to the outer shape of jaws attaching to tool face.
