The Silencer Band accomplishes several tasks. First, it can be used to correct a vibration problem similar to a wheel-balance problem on an automobile. Because of the large contact area with the rotor, it will allow up to 1/4" of imbalance. Second, the flat centrifugal contact surface on this band acts like a counterweight and reduces centrifugal forces which could cause vibration problems usually seen in small generators at high speeds. The third use for this silencer band is as a harmonic damper when used between two individual drums.

The Ammco AMM6930 is a ventilated rotor silencer band, for use on Ventilator Models: 6000-7100 (factory number 6500, 6501, 6503); 7200-7300 (factory number 6554, 6565, 6700); 9300 (factory number 7700).
